Kerr happy with move to Iceland

Kerr played for Jamaica in the 2015 edition of the Copa America

Jamaican International Goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr has signed a 2 year deal with Ungmennafélagið Stjarnan in the Icelandic league. Kerr who made his debut for Jamaica in 2007 has left Sarpsborg 08 in Norway for another Nordic team, this time going more north. The 6’5 inch Kerr says he is happy with life in Iceland.

” I am enjoying my football in Iceland. Although we have only played 5 games or so, the chemistry and cohesion in team and how people treat me in the country is very warm so I am comfortable playing football here.We are at the top of the league and we have a genuine chance for UEFA Champions League football, so I am going to work hard so I can continue make my goals come true.”

Kerr who was also a member of Jamaica’s squad that came 2nd in the Pan Am Games in 2007 in Rio, Brazil says that football in Iceland for him is better than Norway as well in terms of fields.

” There are less articifical turfs in Iceland so we get better quality football. This has helping my kicking ability and I hope it will pay dividends by time the Copa America comes around.”

 

Duwayne Kerr was Jamaica’s keeper against Uruguay and Paraguay in the Copa America last year.
