36 year old Jamaica Tallawahs Captain Chris Gayle says he believes the Jamaica Tallawahs can win the 2016 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Gayle who has been the top run scorer for the Jamaica Tallawahs for every season of the tournament feels though that everyone must chip in for their to be success.
“I will always do my best for this team and for my country but the other batsmen must step up in order to contribute positively to this team. We need to keep wickets in our hand and bat deep. My aim is to bat at least 15 overs per match. Once I can do that, I feel we will win many matches this year.”
Chris Gayle has two centuries in CPL History. He scored 1 against the St. Lucia Zouks in 2014 and one against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in 2015.
Chris Gayle was the top scorer in the CPL in 2015 with 430 runs and he says he is eyeing a similar total this season.
” In our home games I want 300 runs and the other fixtures I want another 200, so 500 runs in all is what is my personal target this season. I believe this is a genuine target and if I am able to get support from my fellow teammates then I am sure we will do well.
Every team that has won the CPL did not win their opening game of the tournament. This indicates that it is not how you start, but it is how you finish that matters.
