28 year old Jamaican International Theo Robinson has signed a two and a half year deal with Southend United in League One. After only three months with Lincoln City in the National League with the 5th tier of English Football, the former Watford F.C. player says he is happy to be back in football league.
“I am very happy to join Southend United and commit my future with the club until at least 2019. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for me to test myself even more and I look forward to helping them get a spot in Championship.”
Robinson scored 8 goals in 22 appearances for Lincoln City. 7 of those goals came in the F.A. Cup where his goals have been critical to guiding Lincoln City to the last 16 of the F.A. Cup. This is the furthest the club has been in this tournament in over 115 years.
Head Coach of Southend United Phil Brown who was Hull City’s manager in the Premier League in 2008 says he is happy to acquire the services of the Birmingham born Robinson.
“We have had our eyes on Robinson for a little while now. He is definitely a player with tremendous quality that we are hoping to put to good use. We are 7th in League 1 and very close to the promotion positions so acquiring Theo is a massive step in the right direction for us.”
